Brian Williams: Pastor of Mission and Outreach

email: bwilliams@northchurchindy.com

Brian sees mission and outreach as the role and privilege entrusted to the Church—reaching out to the world as our neighbors stretch toward us.  This dynamic interchange provides divine moments as we all reach upwards in response to the great things God has done.  As pastor responsible for the area of mission and outreach Brian seeks and listens for the ways in which North church is called to live in fellowship with the local and international community.

The location of North church drew Brian’s interest because it sits at the intersection of diverse ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds and cultures.  Brian says, “The ministry of North church is a delicate balance of gifts, talents, abilities, demographics and desire, and it is fun to be both participant and witness to the Spirit’s movement.  North church can do many things but the congregation is called to be sensitive to the Spirit’s guidance in their role as neighbors and fellow sojourners in this community’s history.”  North’s local and international ministries help ground the church in its responsibility as a community of faith and offers all who pass through opportunities to grow and be strengthened together.

Brian comes to North church with a background and passion suited to his ministry area.  After serving as a sales and marketing manager in several different Midwestern cities, Brian began focusing his efforts to journey with the disinherited.  “The underserved communities are places we witness God’s power at work and sense that power elevating all lives together in mutual fellowship.”

While living and studying in North Carolina, Brian served as a human resource development instructor and part-time local pastor.  He holds a Bachelors degree from Purdue University and Masters Degrees from the University of Michigan-Flint and Duke Divinity School.

Brian is passionate about social justice, diversity, and in his leisure time enjoys “playing at golf,” meeting people and traveling.  Brian is most thankful to be on this journey of life together with Ava, his wife and friend of twenty-one years.
