A member of North since 1999, Dave Damin is the building engineer. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and an MA in Management from Webster University in St. Louis. He graduated from St. Meinrad Minor Seminary after living with the Benedictine monks for four years. He has traveled from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego and from Japan to Austria as a Navy enlisted man and officer, a vice-president for Science Applications International, and the engineer for Alpine North America. He has also operated his own home restoration and handyman business here in Indy. He has made his home in many places, including one to two years in Iceland, Germany, and an Aleutian Island.
The leadership of the congregation determined that the condition of our buildings was out of balance and jeopardizing the missions and ministries of North. One consequence of that determination was recruiting Dave to make an assessment of the building, develop a plan for addressing what was found in the discovery phase, engineer the road map to carry out the plan, and put maintenance systems in place to preserve the building structure and infrastructure when the engineering and improvements were completed. Along the way, he will also make repairs and remodel spaces, coordinate contractor support, and plan volunteer projects while he is carrying out the engineering and planning.
Dave’s earliest ambitions were to be either a cowboy or a foreign missionary. He joined North Church because it is an ideal place to continue his international service as an amateur missionary. He doesn’t do much cowboying since his riding, roping, and shooting skills are somewhat short of stellar.
